Common mistakes aspirants do while preparing for SSC CGL
Staff Selection Commission conducts CGL level exam where graduates can only apply and every year more than 20 lacs candidates are applying for SSC CGL Exam. It makes the exam competitive and a hard nut to crack. But still some aspirants do not care much about it and sit for the exam without doing any preparation. Those who are above average students in their school times are over confident and do not do proper and dedicated efforts.
There are some mistakes that aspirants generally commit while preparing for SSC CGL Exam these are:
- Giving importance to one subject only. Most of the students give more importance to the subject with vast syllabus like general knowledge or studies. It has six to seven subjects to be studied. It needs more time but not at the cost of other subjects. They ignore other subjects like Mathematics which also needs equal attention.
- Reasoning is a very scoring section but it does not have any formulae or method to solve. There is no formal concept to be studied so they underestimate this section. It also needs proper practice and aptitude to solve the quizzles. Therefore those who ignore this section also loose score to a great level.
- Loosing confidence while practicing and preparing for the exam. At times when you find any topics out of your reach, it makes you feel inconsistent. Instead you should keep learning and it is better to take coaching with SSC Coaching in Delhi or elsewhere. These institutes have formal coaching modules which keep you motivated and inclined towards studies always. They conduct regular classes with proper assignments to make the topic understood by the students.
- Due to busy schedule some candidates do not practice mock tests which make their preparation worthless. They are not able to analyses their preparation level. They are not able to improve their weak topics which give them a setback of negative marking as they do not get time management and accuracy level set according to the exam pattern. It only comes by attempting mock tests. It is better to join online test series of a reputed coaching institute and take one test every day.
- When candidates follow more than one Resource Book to study the basic fundamentals. Reading more than one author always confuses the reader. It is better to follow one author per subject to get the proper concepts.
- Studying too much sometimes gives over-confidence which becomes a limiting factor to get a good score. They attempt the questions thinking that they will always be right and never think twice before marking the final answer. It gives them a slap of negative marking and thus they are not able to crack the exam in the first attempt even after a hard-work.
- Thinking that SSC CGL Exam is easy to manage and not going through the previous year question papers. Never underestimate any competitive exam as they can change their pattern anytime. One should keep the exam preparation intact.
- Those who are good in English do not give much importance to this subject while preparing. The questions asked in the exam are entirely different than what they get in the secondary and higher secondary level. They should study previous year question papers and practice accordingly rather than leaving it altogether.
It is advisable not to commit such mistakes while preparing for SSC CGL exam or else you will not be able to qualify the exam with good score.
Wishing you all success!!!
