What are the best job options through SSC CGL?

SSC CGL is the most preferred career option amongst the Government Job Aspirants. It is the best career option for graduates as it gives an opening to a variety of jobs once you clear this exam. Now the question arises as to which post to opt, for that you should first know the list of posts offered. There are about 30 jobs that you can prefer from while filling the application for SSC CGL Exam, these are:

  1. Assistant Section Officer in CSS:
This post has a Grade Pay of Rs.4600. The postings or joining to this job is in Delhi, which is the most preferred place for every aspirant. Candidate is appointed in various ministries. The nature of job is one is required to make notes, reports, etc., which is an easy thing as you have independent thinking and writing on the subjects under consideration. It is a purely desk work job with good promotion order which goes like this:
Promotion Order for Assistant Section Officer in CSS
  1. Section Officer: One can be promoted to the Section Officer level after 5 years by taking an inter-departmental exam, though usual process takes about 10 years yet one can avail it at early stage by opting for departmental exam
  2. Under Secretary: after completing 4 years of service, this is another promotion order for the CGL candidate.
  3. Deputy Secretary: One can get promoted to this level on the basis of performance and vacancies available in the department.
It is the best option for those who want a regular 9 to 5 work schedule job and it has amazing terms of growth in career as the promotion prospects are the best amongst the other job profiles available with CGL.

Assistant in MEA:

This post also offers Rs. Grade Pay of Rs. 4600/-. Posting is usually given in Delhi but there are chances of getting foreign posting for few years.  Work profile includes administration work, typing, compiling reports, emailing, calling, updating about events, maintaining the files etc. The best part is promotion which is automatic after 15 to 17 years of job without clearing any departmental exam. In case one intends to take a departmental exam and clears it too, that opportunity is given only after 8 years of job length. This is one of the favorite job as it gives you ample of responsibilities which is worth it as it giving you an opportunity to take a “World Tour” as a part of your job.

Income Tax Inspector (CBDT)

This post is defined as Inspector in IT, excise and customs, enforcement etc. it offers grade pay of Rs 4600/- . There are chances of getting posting at home state if you opt for this job option.  The promotion is due after completing 8 years of service by clearing an inter-departmental exam. The promotion order is as follows:

  1. Income Tax Officer
    2.Assistant Commissioner
    3. Deputy Commissioner
    4. Commissioner
 It is one of the powerful jobs offered by CGL and most sought after. Your introduction is taken with a big surprise by others, it gives respect in the4 society in terms of “Fear”.
  1. Sub Inspectors (CBI)
This job offers a Grade Pay  Rs. 4200/-. Generally the posting is given in Delhi Zone. It is a very challenging job therefore one should be able to work under pressure. There is a training duration of 32 weeks after cracking the exam. It has no fixed promotion period.
The Promotion Order goes like this:
  1. Inspector: After 5 years
  2. Deputy Superintendent: After 10-12 years
  3. Superintendent: after 5-7 years,
  4. Senior Superintenden
It gives a privilege to flash your ID card and say I AM FROM CBI, which gives a very good feeling while introducing ourselves to others
Besides the above said posts one can choose, AAO which is Assistant Audit Officer is the best addition, which is recently added in the list of SSC CGL posts, it is the only Gazettted post in this list and hence one can keep it as the first choice.
