Which exam is tough SSC CHSL Exam or SSC CGL Exam? Know The Facts

Staff Selection Commission is an autonomous body conducting various exams to fill in the vacant posts in various government departments every year. SSC conducts exams like SSC CGL, SSC CHSL, and SSC MTS etc.  SSC CHSL and SSC CGL hold the best place in the heart of aspirants. These are the most preferred exams for those who aspire for a PUBLIC SECTOR UNDERTAKING JOBS.
Out of SSC CGL and SSC CHSL, SSC CHSL is tough to crack and the reasons I quote to support my view are given below:
  1. Eligibility criteria : SSC CHSL stands tough because it is open to graduates as well as under graduates. It is a challenge for the under graduates as graduates have more knowledge and experience than them. Some of the graduates have already appeared in the SSC CHSL EXAM and they perform well in the exam which makes it tough for those under graduates who are appearing it for the first time.
  2. Number of aspirants: The candidates who are eligible to appear in SSC CGL exam can also apply for SSC CHSL exam. It means that the numbers of aspirants applying for SSC CHSL exam are more than that aspirants applying for SSC CGL exam. Therefore, the competition level of SSC CHSL exam is higher than that of SSC CGL exam.
  3. Exam Pattern: The exam pattern too reflects the fact that SSC CHSL exam is tougher to crack than SSC CGL exam. In SSC CGL exam, you have to master Mathematics and English sections properly to qualify this exam. On contrary, in SSC CHSL exam, the candidates have to score well in all four sections – General Intelligence, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and General Awareness to get qualified.
  4. Number of vacancies: The numbers of vacancies offered through SSC CGL are higher than that offered through SSC CHSL exam. In year 2017, the job vacancies offered through SSC CGL exam were around 8000 and was just 3000 plus from SSC CHSL exam. This pattern is followed every year and so it makes SSC CHSL exam more tougher exam to crack.
  5. Level of competition: The level of competition for SSC CHSL is higher than that of SSC CGL exam. It is believed that every SSC CGL exam aspirant have appeared at least once in SSC CHSL exam in their preparation phase. While preparing for SSC CGL exam, which had tougher syllabus than SSC CHSL exam syllabus, the aspirant can reappear in SSC CHSL exam and score far better than other aspirants. It enhances the cut-off score for SSC CHSL exam and thus the level of competition is much higher for this exam. The experience of confronting the examination pressure and re-studying the entire syllabus with better understanding and perception also plays important in making SSC CHSL exam easier for SSC CGL exam aspirants.
  6. Every Govt. Job Aspirants apply for SSC CHSL exam as Back-Up Plan: In India, the number of aspirants for Govt. Jobs is in millions and appearing in SSC CHSL exam works like dress rehearsal for higher exams and as “back-up” plan, if they don’t get job opportunities through other competitive exams, which offer higher rank jobs. As far as SSC CGL exam, it is believed that only serious candidates who had strong commitment appear in this exam. So, the level of competition is limited to selected few candidates for SSC CGL exam.
 After reading this article, we hope that aspirants must be convinced that SSC CHSL is more competitive than SSC CGL exam. On contrary, the preparation level and difficulty level of questions in SSC CGL exam is higher than that of SSC CHSL exam. Nonetheless, the candidates should be fully committed, fully prepared with proper strategy with load of confidence to crack both these significant exams which are gateway to respectable posts in various Govt. offices and departments.
